Helen Devos Children’s Hospital, located in Grand Rapids, MI.

The project:
Completed in 2011 and floating 18′ above Michigan street, this 200 foot long pedestrian bridge connects the parking garage to the hospital. This complex design with tapered and twisting geometry resulted in over 600 unique pieces of glass.
My scope of work:
My scope of work includes:

  • All of the aluminum framing that sits atop the steel structure.
  • The tapered metal panels that run along the ridge.
  • The metal panels flanking the bottom edges.

I produced the shop drawings for the customer and architect’s approval. I also generated the glass sizes and the fabrication & assembly drawings for our shop to produce all of the framing and brake metal.
